Dear Business Representative:

New England Youth Theater is pleased to announce its production of Tams-Whitmark’s The Wizard of Oz to run February 6, 7, 8 and 13, 14,15 at the Chocolate Church Arts Center in Bath, Maine. Our purpose in writing is to introduce our organization and ask for your sponsorship.

New England Youth Theater (NEYT) is a newly formed non-profit (501)©(3) organization and we depend on contributions from local businesses and community members like you. A production of this scale costs approximately $25,000 for royalties, costumes, set design and construction, administration, and performance rental space. We would like your support in assisting with production expenses so we can continue to produce youth performances in our community.

Sponsors will receive publicity by being featured in our program, in the theater lobby, and posted on our NEYT website. For larger donations you become a Curtain Sponsor and are mentioned at the beginning of each performance. Your contribution is tax deductible and suggested sponsorship amounts are $2000, $1000, and $500, but contributions of any size are greatly appreciated.

If you would like to sponsor NEYT, please complete the enclosed form and mail it to: 20 Davis Street, Brunswick, Maine 04011, or go to our website and complete the online form. We are able to accept several forms of payment: PayPal, debit card, credit card or check.

New England Youth Theater would like to thank you in advance for your involvement and contributions.

About our production:

Our announcement of this production has been warmly welcomed by the community. Nearly 70 students attended auditions, eager to be cast and to help out backstage. For the youth members involved, this production is more than an enjoyable experience, it is a chance for them to meet students from other schools and personally grow through performing. Participation introduces students to all aspects of musical theater, fosters communication skills, and boosts self-esteem. The directors run “high energy rehearsals” stressing hard work and fun to create a polished performance.

Based on the popular movie, The Wizard of Oz tells the story of teenager Dorothy Gale who travels “Over the Rainbow” into Munchkin Land where her house lands on the Wicked Witch of the East who has magical ruby slippers on her feet. The slippers are wanted by the Wicked Witch of the West, but Glinda the Good Witch intervenes and places them on Dorothy’s feet. The Wicked Witch follows Dorothy throughout her journey to Emerald City where she seeks the powers of the Great Oz to help her return home. Along the way, Dorothy meets a Scarecrow, Tinman and Lion who also seek the great and powerful Wizard of Oz. In the end, Dorothy and her friends realize they possessed what they sought all along. Finally, by tapping her ruby slippers several times and repeating “There’s no place like home”, Dorothy returns home to Kansas.

We hope to see you at the show!
